You're minutes from Utrecht Science Park and UMC Utrecht, with frequent public transport and free parking at the door, and the woods on your doorstep for when a problem needs a walk. Inside, a fireplace and a desk; outside, a hammock and a garden. Whether you're here for a conference week, a research month, or a full semester as a visiting fellow, you'll find a setting built around the way academics actually work: long stretches of focus, the occasional pause in the green, and the calm needed to do your best work.

We believe visiting scholars shouldn't have to think about logistics. From the moment you arrive, everything is set up, stocked, and included — so you can drop your bag, open your laptop, and focus on the work you came here to do:

About us
Hi! We're Pauline van Rijckevorsel and Rocco Wammes, your hosts here in De Bilt. The little chalet you'll be staying in sits at the back of our garden — we opened it up as a space for guests who want peace, privacy, and a base to work from. Over the years we've come to especially enjoy welcoming visiting academics: people who arrive with a project on their mind, settle in, and put the time to good use. Whether you're with us for a few nights or a full semester, we'll do our best to make you feel right at home.
